Aan de meest prestigieuze gracht van Amsterdam, tussen de Brouwersgracht en de Leliegracht, staat dit prachtige dubbelbrede monumentale pand uit 1760, “Residence Lebrun”. Achter de in zandstenen opgetrokken gevel is het unieke vier verdiepingen tellende achterhuis gelegen met een vrijstaand gastenhuis en een tuinhuis in de riante tuin op het westen.

Het geheel is gelegen op eigen grond en beslaat in totaal 422m2 incl. tuinhuis met een tuin van maar liefst 590m2. Indeling
De brede entreedeur geeft u toegang tot de gemeenschappelijke hal met marmeren vloer, sfeervol verlichte nissen en mooie wandschilderingen van de Amsterdamse kunstenaar Peter Korver. Aan het begin van de vestibule is er toegang tot de ruime fietsenberging in de kelder en aan het einde van deze vestibule bevindt zich de toegang tot het achterhuis en tevens een separate toegang tot het gastenhuis dat in de tuin is gelegen.

Bij binnenkomst in het achterhuis treft u een ruime entree, overdag helder verlicht door de lichtkoepel in het plafond. De vloer is, net als in alle andere vertrekken op dit niveau, betegeld met mooie Portugese tegels. Tevens bereikt u vanuit deze hal de riante, maar liefst 8 meter brede, woonkeuken. De openslaande deuren geven toegang naar een groot terras en de royale tuin. De grote keuken is voorzien van diverse inbouwapparatuur, een Belgisch hardsteen blad en een gezellig keukeneiland. In deze riante ruime woonkeuken is voldoende ruimte voor een grote eettafel.

Vanuit de hal is tevens een separate berging/wasruimte en een aparte wijnopslag met constante temperatuur toegankelijk.

De monumentale trap met houten lambrisering leidt naar de eerste verdieping. Tuin
Daar waar de meeste tuinen aan de gracht smal zijn, is deze grachtentuin uniek door zijn breedte en enorme omvang. Bij het betreden van de riante tuin worden direct alle zintuigen geprikkeld door de heerlijke geuren en de prachtige kleuren van de beplanting en het geluid van de fontein, de vele vogels en zoemende bijen. Er bevinden zich diverse zitplekken waardoor u op verschillende tijden heerlijk van de zon of van het zicht op de statige achtergevel kunt genieten. Een kiezelpad met aan weerszijde een haag van coniferen, leidt naar het vrijstaande gastenhuis. In de tuin wordt privacy gewaarborgd door de hoge, voornamelijk begroeide omheining.

Het grachtenpand ligt aan de westelijke kant van de grachtengordel en op loopafstand bevinden zich tal van leuke terrasjes, eethuisjes en bijzondere winkels. On the most prestigious canal in Amsterdam, between the Brouwersgracht and the Leliegracht, stands this beautiful double-wide monumental building established in 1760, “Residence Lebrun”. Behind the sandstone façade is hidden an unique four-storey rear house with a detached guest house annex office space or studio and garden house in the spacious and stylishly landscaped garden on the northwest. Layout

The floor is, as in all other rooms on this level, tiled with beautiful Portuguese tiles. The entrance room provides access to a separate heated storage/laundry room with separate wine storage at a constant temperature and to the hallway with toilet, cloakroom and staircase cupboard. From this hall you can also reach the spacious kitchen. The original exposed beams in the ceiling breathe the atmosphere of days gone by. Two French windows and a double door offer a view of the garden. The kitchen consists of a fixed part with kitchen island and various appliances. The adjacent storage room with vestibule is also accessible from the entrance, so you have direct access to the kitchen with your groceries.

From the hall, a monumental staircase with wooden panelling leads to the first floor. There you find the original style room (Louis XVI-style), with high ceiling (over 4.5 metres), marble mantelpiece, high mirrors, wall paintings and panelling with subdivisions by Ionic pilasters in which floral motifs have been incorporated. Three French high doors that swing inwards with a French balcony divider offer a wonderful view of the garden. The room can be darkened by the use of full-height wooden sliding panels. Ensuite a library with library stairs, where light falls in from the high windows. The entire floor is covered with a well-maintained herringbone parquet floor.

On the second floor, from the spacious and bright landing, you reach the toilet and the hallway to the master bedroom. Through a frosted glass wall in the bathroom, daylight reaches this hall. The monumental bedroom with high windows, marble fireplace, mirror and wooden panelling, has a walk-in closet with daylight and bathroom ensuite. The modern bathroom has two freestanding sinks, a walk-in shower and a freestanding bath from which there is a beautiful view of the garden.

A slender steel staircase provides access from the second floor to the top floor where the wooden construction immediately catches the eye. A mezzanine offers the possibility of using this floor optimally. On this floor, the technical area is located under the mezzanine. A short staircase leads to the access to the escape staircase located between the front and rear house. Looking through the window of the dormer, you again have a fantastic view of the garden and the surroundings.

Guest house/studio
The guest house has its own entrance from the communal vestibule and the rear house and is detached in the garden. It is built of white brickwork in a blue wooden frame with four double-hung window frames, two of which have double doors. The house was rebuilt in 1997 using modern materials such as glass, steel and wood. A fully glazed (partly sandblasted, partly clear) draught lobby has two lockable pivot doors that provide access to the living room with kitchen on the one hand and the office space/studio on the other. The wooden structure of the roof is visible everywhere, making the entire guesthouse look like one room. This is also achieved by the open mezzanine floor, which is accessible from both the living room and the office space via two staircases. The fact that all floors, as well as the stairs, are covered with wide American pine floorboards and the walls both downstairs and on the mezzanine are painted in the same recurring colour contributes to the sense of unity. The living room has a built-in kitchen with cupboard space and a toilet with vestibule and access to the storage/utility room. The room on the ground floor, currently used as an office space, has its own toilet with vestibule and access to the garden, so it could function as an independent work space. On the mezzanine floor there are two rooms with fitted wardrobes, one of which is currently being used as a bedroom. These rooms are separated by a bathroom with washbasin and walk-in shower. If desired, it’s easy to realize two or three full bedrooms in the guest house.

Garden
When entering the spacious garden, all senses are immediately stimulated by the wonderful smells and the beautiful colours of the plants and the sound of the fountain, the many birds and buzzing bees. There are several seating areas so you can enjoy the sun at different times or the view of the stately back facade. There are many mature trees in the garden including a “gouden regen”, prunus, Japanese maple, willow and holly and in the beautifully landscaped borders are various flowering plants and shrubs, such as a rhododendron, rose, hydrangea, laurel and broom. The classic white wooden garden house in the back of the garden has water and electricity. In front of the garden house is a covered terrace that is slightly elevated from the garden level. A gravel path with a hedge of conifers on either side leads to the detached guest house. In the garden, privacy is guaranteed by the high, mainly planted, garden wall. From the north-western gable of the guesthouse to the plot boundary at the rear of the garden, the garden is designated as a “Keur garden”. Since 1615, Keur gardens have enjoyed special legal protection, which has ensured that their special cultural-historical value has always been preserved.

Surroundings
The canal house is located on the western side of the canal ring and at walking distance there are many nice terraces, restaurants, caterers and special shops. Several days a week there are pleasant markets in the neighbourhood, including an organic market, a fabric market and a vintage market.
